Day #01 – The Resolution Run
Today was the first run of the challenge. I only needed to run 1 mile, but I’d planned all along on taking part of the Resolution Run at Maine Running Company, which will provide half of the extra 10 miles I’m hoping to run over the next month to get 500 miles total instead of the 490 miles scheduled by the challenge itself.
The run was a lot of fun. It was snowing and the roads were a bit slick, but I had screw shoes on, as did a few others who got their shoes drilled before the run. We were running a little late so I wasn’t able to fix up everybody’s shoes that were interested but as far as I know nobody slipped and hurt themselves.
The Resolution Run here in Portland is a very low key event. There is a 10k, 5k and 200m option for the run, depending upon whether you want to go the full route into town, a short out and back, or just want to walk across the street from the store to the Great Lost Bear, where the post-race raffle and festivities took place.
As you can tell from the bonus footage in the video, nobody takes themselves too seriously, and if you look closely you’ll see my wife waving in the background as everybody runs by (and no, it isn’t Kathy, the very obvious person waving at the camera!)
So, all in all, here are todays numbers:
Miles Projected: 1 Mile
Miles Run: 6.2 Miles
Duration: 48:27
Net Weight Change: 0 Pounds
