Day #10 – Skirting Around Castle Craig

We rounded out our weekend trip to CT with a hike and run near Castle Craig in Hubbard Park. The original plan had been to hike 5 miles out and back, but we had a late start and didn’t think we’d have time for that.

Day 10 MapMy sister and Erin and I hiked out about 3½ miles, skirting around Castle Craig, before turning back and coming back around the dam. My nephew and his friend ambled along at their own pace but actually went to the castle.

After about 7½ miles I turned off on a side trail so I could get some running in and make sure I got the full 10 miles in. I wound up on a different trail to get out of the park than I thought and wound up skirting along the edge of the road instead of running halfway back up to the ridge, finishing with almost 11 miles total.

The timing worked out almost perfectly, since by the time we got done showering and eating lunch we were able to get on the road and visit some friends and their beautiful 6 week old daughter while she was (mostly) awake and in a good mood.

Our cat is happy that we came home, though, and has been purring and laying in our laps for the past hour while I put this update from this morning’s run together.     Hi Blaine!!

    I miss the challenge!! Despite my slightly “brickish” thighs I really enjoyed the fresh air, the snow, the blue sky,and mostly hanging out with you guys!! Here’s to Days 9 & 10 !! Good luck …
