You Can Win a Free Coaching CD!
My friend Mike Brooks has a lot of experience raising money for non-profit and charitable organizations. He has raised 10s of thousands of dollars for Camp Sunshine.
Last year, before his most recent fund raiser which brought in about $11,000, we conducted a coaching session that went through everything that he knows about raising money from A to Z.
And now…I want to give you a chance to win a copy of the CD.
There are two ways to win. I will choose 5 random commenters in this thread to award a digital copy of the coaching session. Just leave a comment below with a valid email address (which will not be visible on the website) and I will randomly choose 5 people to award.
I will also award 1 physical copy of the CD. In order to win the physical copy of the coaching CD, your comment needs to make a guess.
On Twitter, I have been offering a daily running quote for about a year and a half. Almost every weekday, I’ve put up a motivational or humorous quote.
The person who’s comment guesses the somebody to the number of quotes that I have offered in 2008 and 2009 will win a physical copy of the CD. If more than one person guesses the number of quotes that I have left, then I will randomly choose amongst those closest (or right on.)
So, to recap: I’m giving away 1 physical CD to anybody that guesses the closest to the number of quotes that I have published on Twitter, and I’m giving away 5 copies of the mp3 randomly amongst anybody that comments on this post, whether they guess or not.
So…who wants a free coaching session?
Update: I forgot to state how long the contest runs for…it’ll end on Sunday night at midnight (EST) leading into Monday morning…it’s a weekly contest so the goal will be to award the prizes for this contest and start the next one next Monday.

Blaine– thank you for all you do for the running community!! You are one of my inspirations.
I will have to check out the twitter feed for the quotes. I would guess you have put 360 quotes out in 2008 and 2009.
Comment by Perry on 2010 January 5:
Hello Blaine,
Good luck on the 1 mile challenge! I’d be interested to see what you’ve included in the coaching program.
Comment by Tom Ackerson on 2010 January 5:
Thanks for the website, e-mail newsletter and the twitter feed. All these things keep me motivated to go one more mile.
I’m going to guess 533 as the amount of QOTD’s. I have no idea how many, but 365 days in a year and Larry Bird was great! 533 seems like a good guess.
Comment by mike early on 2010 January 5:
Always interesting things to read on runtowin and good training tips as well. I would guess about 230 quotes over a year an a half.
Comment by Jeff Donahue on 2010 January 5:
I would guess 542 quotes over 2008 and 2009.
Hope the challenge is going well. I was actually looking at my log for the past few days and my log has gone up a mile each day for the past three days – dont expect me to keep that up for a month though. Hang tight – the tough part hasnt started yet.
Comment by John Fenton on 2010 January 5:
Just as a coincidence, I’ll probably stay ahead of the challenge through Sunday, but I’ll fall off the wagon come Monday. I’m not going to run 11 miles on a Monday during a cutback week. Good luck with the tough final two weeks.
I’m guessing 468 quotes.
Comment by Rick Hunter on 2010 January 5:
Thanks for the website, Blaine. I’ll guess 390 quotes. Now if I can ever get over this 2-week old cough, I can start running again.
Comment by Dusty on 2010 January 5:
Would love to see your quotes on FB too! I don’t keep up with Twitter.
Comment by Darcy Cote on 2010 January 5:
Good luck to you with your challenge, very impressive! I may not be able to run 500 miles in a month, but I am definitely running for sunshine!
I am going to guess 535 quotes.
I did make a funny comment about running for the sun in general since we get buried with snow in Maine. But I forgot to mention that your challenge is for a really good cause…and I know personally, when I run a race, it really isn’t just to challenge myself, but where my money goes, I think most of us can relate. So kudos, and Good luck!
Comment by Sue Schoch on 2010 January 5:
Love your updates. Fund raising can be challenging even if it is for a good cause. Would love to know more through the CD.
Would have to guess 420 qoutes.
I would love Facebook quotes. I don’t really follow Twitter even
though I have an account.
Thanks for all the updates.
Comment by Eddie on 2010 January 5:
My guess is 315 QOTDs. Also, I think running 500 miles in a month is insane.
Comment by Sam on 2010 January 5:
So nice to see people who are already challenging themselves as much as possible help those starting out with a bit of daily inspiration and a few words of wisdom. Good luck with the challenge, I’m going to be do my first marathon later this year.
Plucking a number out the air, I’ll guess at 349 posts.

I’m impressed with your goal! Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
Best of Luck and may your body be strong. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and knowledge…and quotes. Now I have to search out those quotes.
You said about a year and a half of quotes = 78wk and you did them on weekdays = 390 days but not all so I guess 378 quotes.

Blaine,
I have a hard time grasping 500 miles in one month….crazy as I only ran a little over a thousand miles for the whole year.
My guess for the quotes is 371.
